Dr. Amitabha Mukherjee has been an academician and an author for the last 30 years before he founded IFRS Demystified. He was the Head of the Dept. of Accounting and Finance in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, India which was ranked 2012 No. 1 Commerce College in India Today magazine. He has also been the faculty at premier institutions of the country. Books co-authored by him on financial and corporate accounting have been market leaders for the last two decades and recommended by organisations, academic as well as professional, throughout the country and abroad. Numerous management and accounting journals have also published his articles over the years.

However in 2005, when he first saw an accounting software, he was unable to fathom the relevance of manual accounting in an era where even a small shopkeeper maintains his accounts in a computer.

In 2007, he resigned from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata because he realised that what he had done till date was all good for yesterday's market, but they did not make any sense in today's global changing scenario. Since that day he started his research on IFRS because he knew it is the future of Accounting and Finance. He also humbly believes that without the knowledge of IFRS, no finance professional can earn a single dime.
